WE WILL EAT YOU works by MATHEW MICHAEL KAELIN
Yes Gallery would like to present an exhibiton by Matthew Michael Kaelin, curated by Lesley Doukhowetzky. The work in this group of photographs and live plants depict the most fascinating and macabre beauty of Carnivorous plants.
This collection of images are of plants from around the world that Kaelin has been cultivating for many years, some of which are extremely rare and have won top awards at horticultural exhibitions. They attract, catch and consume invertebrates and in some cases, small vertebrates by various diabolical methods. The images in We Will Eat You, are reminiscent of Victorian Age botanical prints exaggerated with dramatic compositions to portray the sinister nature and sensual attraction these plants possess.
Born on July 3rd 1974 in Suffolk County on Long Island New York, Matthew Michael Kaelin received his AAS from the Fashion Institute of Technology in Fine Arts followed by his BFA in Textile/Surface Design and is currently employed at Charles Komar as the Digital Print Manager.
